God Answers Our Prayers
I know that God answers our prayers. I know that He loves us each personally and is very aware of what is going on in our lives. There is no doubt in my mind that He cares deeply about us and knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows what we are going through and He knows what we can handle and He blesses us with blessings beyond measure.
Malachi 3:10
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
This scripture has been on my mind lately. We did not have enough money to buy food this month. It was a very lean month. I had a choice to make. Should I pay our tithing or buy food for our family? Some may think I was foolish to pay my tithing with no money for our family’s needs. I knew that somehow, the Lord could provide us with the things we needed.
There were four miracles (probably many more that I did not recognize) that made it possible for us to get by and that I feel the need to share to express my gratitude to my Heavenly Father who truly is merciful and kind. First, my mom and dad stopped by to visit and brought us food. They said they had a feeling that they needed to bring us some food, so they went to the store and bought about two week’s worth of food. When that ran out and we still had no money for any food, there was a knock at the door and one of my piano students was ready for her lesson with a check for the month in her hand. I hadn’t planned on being paid and had even forgotten she was coming. That was the second miracle. We were able to buy enough food for a few more days. Then, as I was preparing dinner tonight, I wasn’t sure what we would eat. There was some deer meat in the fridge from our grown daughter, so I began to prepare it, wishing I had something I could fix to go with it. Then, the thought came to me that I shouldn’t worry. That food would be provided. Before the meat was even finished cooking, there was a knock at the door and a friend of mine was holding a bag of potatoes. I told her the timing of her arrival was perfect and explained the thought that I had had only moments before. That was the third miracle. The fourth miracle was just a few hours after we had eaten. We were settling down for the night and a knock came to our door. I opened it and saw another friend with about 5 bags of groceries in her hands. I asked her how she knew we were out of food? She said “A little bird told me”. She asked if I needed any eggs and I told her we actually had some eggs. She said, “I thought so. The little bird told me that, too” I’m sure she had been prompted by the Holy Ghost to bring us the things she did.
I am so grateful for these miracles. It is true that the Lord will pour out a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. My heart is full and I keep crying because I am so filled with gratitude for my merciful and kind Heavenly Father. I know He loves me and I know He cares about me and my little family and that He will provide a way for us to obey his commandments. I’m glad I could be a participant in these miracles. It’s comforting to know that God will not leave me alone. He will not let my trials be more than I can bear. I love Him with all my heart and I am so glad for friends and family who listen to the promptings of the spirit and come to my aid when I’m too proud to ask for help.
