There are so many people doing genealogy these days that it is not uncommon to find that there has been some work done on your line.
If you find that there has been some work done, find out how far it goes. Are the children named? Are there mistakes that you recognize? It is important to dig deep and make sure the information is correctly entered. Genealogy is never finished. There is always an area that can be researched and verified.
