Why Is It Important To Protect Marriage and Life?
The topics of same sex marriage and abortion are in the forefront of our news, lately. Many people have asked the questions, “How does my gay marriage have any effect on anyone else?” and “Shouldn’t I choose whether or not to have an abortion without anyone else caring?” While these questions can be hard to answer and leave many people wondering, if they are given much rational thought, the answers are clear. Marriage and life must be protected for the good of our society. While I have gay friends whom I love dearly, I cannot agree with their rationale for their arguments that same sex marriage is harmless to our society. On the contrary, it will ruin our society if allowed to continue. Marriage is vitally important. I also have friends who have had abortions. I cannot agree with their arguments on the rights of individuals to choose to end the life of other individuals on the basis that they are not wanted. The following talk was e-mailed to me by my mother. It is a wonderful rational argument explaining why marriage and life are so important to protect and answers the questions above with clear, rational, moral answers. If anyone really wants to know the answers to the above questions, you can listen below.
Audio Formats This is the talk by Robert George about abortion and marriage between a man and a woman called “On the moral Purposes of Law and Government” given 10/28/2008 at BYU. It is the best I have heard. If it doesn’t forward well you can look it up on the byutv site under find a talk. Love, Mom
