How I Gained A Testimony

Monday night, in our family home evening lesson, we were talking about how you can gain a testimony through The Holy Ghost. My young children were giving the lesson and it was so refreshing to hear them telling us stories about how people gained their testimonies and how we can gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. It made me reflect on how I first came to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true church. Having been raised in an LDS home, I have always had stirrings from the Holy Ghost when we would read scriptures and talk of sacred things. I had times when I doubted certain things, but deep down, I think I always knew it was true. I can’t say there was one event that really changed everything and made me all of a sudden know. I just think that I learned little by little and my faith grew as I was trying to live right. The more I grew, the more things made sense and now, after years of living the gospel standards, I have had so many different small witnesses from The Holy Ghost that I can really say that I do know this is true.

I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he really did restore the gospel to the earth for us in the last days. I know that God lives and that His Son, Jesus Christ died for us so that we could repent of our sins, live again, and be happy. I know that we are children of God and that He loves us and knows us individually. It always is an amazing realization that Heavenly Father loves us and cares about us. I think it is wonderful that He helps me with small and simple matters in my life, even though He has many other children and worlds without number. I know The Book of Mormon is true and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ. I have come to know my Savior more through reading The Book of Mormon. I love The Bible, also. I have always loved the stories of Daniel, Moses, the apostles and The Savior. There are too many great lessons to name here. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to share such a personal testimony with the world. I hope this is helpful to someone reading this.
